Traditional sunglasses reduce “good” blue light, weakening your circadian rhythm. BlueSync strengthens it, increasing energy, mood, motivation, focus, and performance — while protecting against the most harmful light (UVA/UVB/HEVL).

Blue light is the portion of sunlight that signals wakefulness, regulates hormones, and sets the body's circadian rhythm. It is essential during the day, when it supports energy, focus, and healthy biological timing.
The problem is modern lighting. Artificial lights and screens emit high levels of blue light, and the brain cannot distinguish them from sunlight. When exposed at night, this light signals “morning,” triggering wake-promoting hormones like cortisol and adrenaline—exactly when the body should be winding down.
This disruption interferes with sleep, recovery, and cellular repair, making it harder to fall asleep, stay asleep, and wake up refreshed. Over time, chronic circadian disruption is strongly linked to declines in physical health, mental health, and long-term resilience.
Blue light is also short-wavelength, high-energy light—similar to UV—which can stress sensitive retinal tissue and interfere with the eyes' natural repair processes, particularly in the evening.
For these reasons, filtering blue light at the right times—especially after sunset—is essential for protecting sleep, health, and long-term performance.
We have collaborated with leading experts in photobiology and optics to craft what we believe are the world's most effective lenses. Defining "best" requires transparent criteria. Our paramount aim is health optimization, prioritizing protection from harmful Blue Light while ensuring optimal function, encompassing optical clarity, color perception, and style.
Our lenses uniquely balance Blue Light filtration without compromising color rendering, crucial for both protection and visual experience.
Unlike clear lenses that fail to block significant Blue Light above 420 nanometers, our proprietary pigmented mixture effectively targets the most harmful range, centered around the 455-nanometer spike from LED sources prevalent today.
Ra Optics Daylight Lenses block all of the harmful blue wavelengths, providing comprehensive protection ideal for indoor environments. Ra Optics Sunset Lenses block all of the wavelengths in the blue and green spectrum that can disrupt natural melatonin secretion, helping to maintain a healthy circadian rhythm and optimal melatonin production.
While complete darkness is optimal for sleep, it's impractical in our modern lives to completely eliminate light after sunset. Our lenses strike a balance, preserving nighttime visibility while minimizing circadian disruption, recognizing wavelengths below 550 nanometers as key contributors.
Blocking light beyond 600 nanometers compromises visibility, rendering lenses impractical. Our diverse frame styles, crafted from high-quality German steel and/or Italian Mazuchelli Acetate, ensure both functionality and fashion appeal, fostering consistent usage.
In sum, Ra Optics' blue light protection eyewear set the standard for protection, exceeding benchmarks while enhancing aesthetics, and ensuring that anyone can be excited about wearing them.

We can process single-vision near, single-vision computer, and single-vision distance prescriptions that include a pupillary distance (PD), are not expired, and have a power range of +2.00 to -6.00 spheres and up to -2.00 cylinder.
We are currently unable to process bifocal or multifocal (also known as progressive addition) prescriptions. A prescription that includes an “ADD” value—typically between +0.75 and +3.00—is a key indicator that it is a bifocal or progressive lens prescription.
Exceptions:
✅ If the Sphere and the 'ADD' value on your prescription combined do not exceed +2.00 and your cylinder value does not exceed -2.00, we can add the 'ADD' value to the Sphere value to process your prescription as single-vision near (reader) glasses.
✅ Alternatively, if your cylinder value does not exceed -2.00, we can drop off the 'ADD' value to process your prescription as single-vision distance glasses.
If you upload a prescription for bifocal or multifocal (progressive) lenses, we will contact you to let you know that we are unable to process your request and ask you to upload a new prescription file that meets our limits.
If a single-vision prescription is not an option for you, we will unfortunately have to cancel your order.
We are actively exploring ways to expand our prescription offerings, including the potential introduction of clip-on and fit-over glasses.
Our daylight lenses are precisely engineered to filter the most disruptive wavelengths of blue light during the day, preserving visual clarity while supporting eye health and hormonal balance.
Our sunset lenses are designed for evening wear, blocking 100% of blue light and most green light to support melatonin production, natural sleep cycles, and cellular regeneration.
While Daylight Lenses can provide some benefit in the evening, Sunset Lenses have a stronger effect on supporting sleep. Conversely, because Sunset Lenses block more light than necessary during the day, they can reduce visual clarity — making Daylight Lenses the better choice for daytime use. This is why we offer both lens types, each designed for its specific purpose.
First, unlike traditional sunglasses, BlueSync is specifically designed, based on the science of light and circadian rhythms, to specifically “enhance” beneficial ranges of the light spectrum for particular biological effects—specifically: strengthening the circadian rhythm, increasing energy levels, mood, focus, and overall performance. Traditional sunglasses simply focus on blocking harmful UV and reducing all visible wavelengths, and generally not on selectively enhancing beneficial wavelengths.
Second, all Ra Optics' products, including BlueSync, acknowledge the significant risk posed by high-energy visible light (HEVL)—an often overlooked range of light which, similar to UVA/UVB, causes disruption to eye health over extended periods of exposure. Unfortunately, the vast majority of modern sunglasses and eyewear products fail to meaningfully address the risks posed by HEVL.
In these ways, BlueSync is a revolutionary lens technology which both offers superior protection to traditional sunglasses, while offering a totally unique suite of biological benefits.

About Our Glasses
Blue Light is a part of the light we see every day — from sunlight to light bulbs, car headlights, and screens.
Blue Light from the sun is the signal that sets our body clock ("circadian rhythm"), which regulates nearly everything in our body—sleeping, waking, hormones, neurotransmitters, digestion, energy, growth, recovery, and more.
Blue Light is a kind of "short-wavelength light" (along with UV)—the part of sunlight that contains a high amount of energy. Too much short-wavelength light can damage our eyes and skin.
Modern artificial lights and screens emit large amounts of Blue Light.
DAYTIME: high exposure in our eyes and causes unnatural constant stimulation of stress hormones.
NIGHTTIME: because the brain can't tell the difference between sun and man-made Blue Light, it tricks the body into thinking it's still daytime, blocking the natural wind-down, sleep, and repair processes. And since sleep is essential, this disruption can have massive consequences on our health.
Our eyes and skin evolved under jungle canopies, where leaves naturally filtered much of the harmful blue and UV light.
We can tolerate some blue light. But constant, unbalanced exposure is harmful. For most of human history, we limited excess sunlight naturally—seeking shade, wearing clothing, and living in harmony with the day-night cycle.
Modern artificial lighting and screens are different. They emit large amounts of blue light—without the balancing, longer wavelengths of sunlight that protect and heal.
That's why today, especially for our eyes—the body's most light-sensitive organ—filtering blue light is essential.
Traditional sunglasses and optical glasses do not filter a meaningful amount of harmful blue light. Blue Light Glasses are a simple and effective tool to filter harmful blue light in both indoor and outdoor environments.
