Introducing Dr. Tom McCoy

Modern Medicine - Lifestyle-first Intervention

In a world where modern medicine often emphasizes pharmaceutical solutions, there are exceptional individuals who advocate for a different approach – a lifestyle-first intervention. Among these remarkable individuals stands Dr. Tom McCoy, a shining inspiration in the field of healthcare. As Director of Health and Performance Optimization at McCoy Medical, Tom's passion for human well-being, his impressive background, and his advocacy for holistic health have impacted countless lives, making him a true health hero.

From Scholar to Healing Hands

Dr. McCoy's journey began at California State University, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude. He later pursued an osteopathic medical degree from Midwestern University, standing out as one of only two students to simultaneously obtain a Masters in Bioethics.

With over a decade of experience practicing emergency medicine, Dr. Tom McCoy's knowledge and expertise in the field of family medicine have helped him touch countless lives, providing care, comfort, and hope to those in need.

Guiding Pro Athletes

in 2020, Tom co-founded McCoy Medical which is next door to the CrossFit gym, which he co-owns and coaches at regularly. A typical day involves him leading workouts with his tribe in the morning, and seeing them in his clinic in the afternoon. Through his work at McCoy Medical, he works with numerous professional athletes and sees patients from all over the country. Tom will also be speaking at several panels at the CrossFit Games this year, one with Tia-Clair Toomey (CrossFit Games champion 6 times in a row) and another with Chris Palmer (author of Brain Energy).

Nature's Influence

An avid outdoorsman, he finds solace in backcountry bowhunting and takes pride in providing as much of his family's food as possible. His connection to nature not only nourishes his body but also feeds his soul, reminding us of the essential harmony between humanity and the environment.

The Power of Light and Ra Optics

Dr. McCoy's belief in lifestyle-first intervention led him to explore the significance of light in our lives. He is an avid advocate of using light as a pillar for optimal health and relies on Ra Optics glasses to manage artificial blue light exposure. With Maxwell Daylight lenses during the day, he reduces eye strain, headaches, and improves focus. At night, the Maxwell Sunset Lenses block the wavelengths most harmful to our sleep blue and support melatonin production, enhancing sleep quality, and preserving his circadian rhythm.

In this blog post, Dr. McCoy delves into the subject of light and its impact on our well-being.

The Importance of Sleep for Health

Dr. McCoy emphasizes the crucial role of sleep in overall well-being. Quality sleep is essential for the body's healing and regenerative processes. In his own words, "Sleep was already dialed, but very interesting how much more calm I feel around light in the evenings since wearing Ra Optics glases."

Inspiring Change

In conclusion, Dr. Tom McCoy is more than a Medical Director and Performance Specialist; he is a guiding light in the realm of healthcare. His dedication to a lifestyle-first intervention, his commitment to holistic well-being, and his passion for educating and empowering others make him an inspiring figure for all to emulate.
