Shane Gillis and Matt McCusker's Red Glasses

If there’s one thing comedian Matt McCusker knows how to do, it’s get a laugh. But in Episode 504 of Matt and Shane’s Secret Podcast (watch here), the joke was on him, at least for the first few minutes. McCusker showed up wearing a pair of Ra Optics glasses, instantly drawing some playful fire from co-host Shane Gillis.

“I can’t believe you actually thought you’d look good in those,” Gillis cracked, before changing his tune a bit to note “You look good, dude. You look like you’re from the future!”

The duo dove into a hilarious back-and-forth about the glasses, their bold style, and even debated the logistics of driving at night while wearing the Sunset lenses (a move that almost landed McCusker in an unintended roadside confrontation!).

And while the jokes were plenty, so was the respect; McCusker and Gillis acknowledged the high quality and effectiveness of the glasses, giving Ra Optics a genuine shoutout at 00:01:40.

Beyond the Podcast: McCusker’s Ra Optics Goes Acoustic

McCusker didn’t just limit his Ra Optics appearances to the Secret Podcast. In August, he took to Instagram for two separate videos that, while wildly different in content, shared a common thread: Ra Optics. In one clip, he casually strummed a guitar (watch here), while in another, he took things in a more primal direction, playing a wooden flute (watch here).

The aesthetic? Somewhere between rockstar unplugged and a 14th-century traveling bard... either way, the bold glasses remained a staple.

Comedy, Clarity, and the Science Behind the Laughs

What started as comedic commentary on McCusker’s new eyewear quickly turned into genuine appreciation. While the glasses make a statement, their real power lies in what they do: blocking artificial blue light to support circadian rhythms, reduce eye strain, and enhance sleep quality. It’s no surprise that more and more high performers (even those who make a living talking late into the night) are turning to Ra Optics to help them recover, recharge, and stay sharp.

And let’s be honest, if they can handle the chaos of Matt and Shane’s Secret Podcast, they can probably handle anything.

Ra Optics and the Celebrity Surge

McCusker joins a growing list of high-profile figures who have been seen wearing Ra Optics. Over the past year, elite athletes, Hollywood actors, and top-tier entertainers have quietly added Ra’s scientifically backed eyewear into their routines. World Series of Poker legend Phil Ivey has been spotted in them at high-stakes tables. Six-time Mr. Olympia Chris Bumstead swears by them for optimizing recovery. Even Bryce Harper, a man who stares down 100-mph fastballs for a living, included Ra Optics as an essential part of his travel kit.

The Clyde Sunset: A Frame That Commands Attention

McCusker wasn’t just wearing any blue light-blocking glasses, he was sporting the Clyde Sunset, a bold yet effortlessly cool frame that has been showing up on more and more notable faces. Designed for maximum protection from artificial blue light at night, the Clyde Sunset lenses have become a go-to for those who want to wind down properly while still looking sharp.

It’s not just about blocking harsh light—it’s about creating a vibe, something McCusker, Gillis and their guests all seem to do effortlessly!
